Despite its name, the maned wolf is not a wolf at all, nor is it a fox, coyote, or dog. It is the only member of the Chrysocyon genus, making it a truly unique animal, not closely related to any other living canid. One hypothesis for this is that the maned wolf is the last surviving species of the Pleistocene Extinction, which wiped out all other large canids from the continent.

oh my gosh

Crazy deer fox.

This Blood Lamp doesn’t look that bloody, but the way you turn it on can be considered gruesome. It only works once, and you need to add of a drop of your blood to activate it! The idea is to stop and think about how badly you need light before you use it. Designer Mike Thompson created the lamp in order to draw attention to how much energy we waste.

we can finally power the world with periods

ok but do u realise how intimate it is to sleep fACING SOMEONE

and when you start to fall asleep and you keep kinda opening your eyes and drifting in and out, every time you open your eyes you see that person across from you, you look at them, and they’re sleeping facing you too and you make eye contact sometimes and you’re just LAYING THERE, GOING TO SLEEP, LOOKING AT EACH OTHER

DO YOU FUCKING UNDERSTAND HOW INTIMATE THAT IS

Reblog if you’re a girl that likes any of the following:

gallifreyan-pizza:

  • X-Men
  • Avengers (that includes any of the individual characters movies)
  • Batman
  • Star Trek
  • Star Wars
  • And pretty much anything that’s action or targeted to guys

A guy friend of mine today said it was weird that my friend had all the X-Men movies because she was a girl. Needless to say we almost threw him out of the car. So I would like to prove to him that just because we have vagina’s that doesn’t impair us from enjoying an action film.

Women of tumblr please back me up.

Hey new followers!
In addition to writing, I also reblog art and great writing/drawing tips.
This tutorial is incredible if  you are a character designer looking to diversify your  female characters. Adding weight to a character is not as simple as drawing a simple body and curving the lines; you have to know the body structure to get it right.
I tried the second character from the left “Gwen” and was shocked at how close my sketch came to this tutorial.
A helpful guide for comic artists, character designers, and cosplayers alike.

I saw some posts circulating a while ago berating the shipping community for sexualising homosexuality, and it kind of rubbed me the wrong way that giddy young fangirls were being told off while the media is ok to sexualise lesbians (or women in general) as much as they want. So I made this rambling little comic!
I imagine anyone with an “out-of-the-norm” fetish has experienced some of the things in this comic, regardless of age or gender. I hope you enjoy it!

Earth’s Rotating Inner Core Shifts Its Speed

Earth’s solid-metal inner core is a key component of the planet, helping to give rise to the magnetic field that protects us from harmful space radiation, but its remoteness from the planet’s surface means that there is much we don’t know about what goes on down there. But some secrets of the inner core are being revealed by acoustic waves passing through the planet’s heart and iron squeezed to enormous pressures in the lab.
Two new studies, both detailed online May 12 in the journal Nature Geoscience, reveal that Earth’s inner core may actually be softer than previously thought, and that the speed at which it spins can fluctuate over time.
Under the liquid-metal outer layer of the Earth’s core is a solid ball of superhot iron and nickel alloy about 760 miles (1,220 kilometers) in diameter. Scientists recently discovered the inner core is, at 10,800 degrees Fahrenheit (6,000 degrees Celsius), as hot as the surface of the sun.
Churning in the liquid outer core results in the dynamo that generates Earth’s magnetic field. Geoscientists think interactions between the inner and outer cores may help explain the nature of the planet’s dynamo, the details of which remain largely unknown.
“The Earth’s inner core is the most remote part of our planet, and so there is a lot we don’t know about it because we can’t go down and collect samples,” said Arianna Gleason, a geoscientist at Stanford University in California.

you see this?
it’s called a razor
if you’re a girl, USE IT
your hairy legs and armpits aren’t cute okay
you’re not helping out for woman’s rights or anything
YOU’RE JUST MAKING YOURSELF LOOK NASTY

Or!
Women have been socialized to believe that they must remove hair for a number of reasons, primarily the following:
hair is historically and Biblically associated with power; we as a patriarchal culture are obsessed with keeping hair on men (facial hair, Hair Club for Men, hair plugs, whatever) and keeping it off women. You say hair on women is nasty; why is it only hair on women? Women and men have the same pubic hair. We all grow it out of our follicles for the same reason. Why is it only gross on women?
women’s bodies have been considered the property of men since the dawn of time, and therefore we have been held to a standard of beauty and attractiveness that is not determined by us but is instead determined by something called the male gaze, which is erases all sexualities and genders other than cisgender heterosexual men and assumes that women are performing for it.
childlike women are considered less “threatening” and more “feminine” because they are naive, quiet, and rely on ~*adult men*~ to take care of them.
AND ALSO:
there is a fallacy about pubic hair that it is dirty. It is not dirty. In fact, it’s there to keep your genitals cleaner. Pubic hair and armpit hair are also there to spread your pheromones around and make it easier for you to attract a mate.
all mammals have hair. We’re mammals.
AND FINALLY:
No one else’s body is your business. Ever. You want to shave? Go ahead! That’s totally your prerogative and if you’re more comfortable shaving, feel free. But given that pubic hair isn’t innately dirty, there’s no reason for anyone to remove it if they don’t want to.
You’re not sending out some edgy, hardcore message here. You’re just reinforcing what our culture wants you to reinforce. Before you pick up that razor again, think about why you want to shave. Is it just because our culture told you to? Why’d they tell you to? What’s the point?
Do what makes you comfortable and what makes you happy, and let others do the same.

Not to mention that at least in the US, shaving legs and underarms has been a thing for less than a century.
And was popularized by razor and depilatory companies. Who, of course, just wanted to double their sales by targeting women as well as men. Their marketing campaigns started in women’s magazines in 1915.
Here’s the first advertisement they ran trying to sell razors by telling women their underarm hair was “objectionable”. And it worked.
Advertising and commercialism once again enforcing arbitrary restrictions on women’s bodies~

Yes I am reblogging this again. Because of what the above person added. It’s so interesting to learn how customs come about in a culture.

Fuck yes

I’ve reblogged this before… and yep I still hate this blithering twat

Also, if you’re going to complain about hair on women, I suggest you not be a hypocrite.
Shave your head bald.
Rip off your eyebrows.
Eyelashes are nasty.
